Brzeg Dolny, Poland – Results at PCC Rokita’s PU production division improved in the first nine months of 2024. The segment’s EBITDA for the nine months stood at PLN46.7m ($11.4m), which represented an increase of 42% compared with the same period of 2023.
“In the first three quarters of 2024, the polyurethanes segment posted improved results compared with the same period of the preceding year,” the company said in its third quarter financial report.
“After a difficult first month of the year in terms of demand for the segment’s products, the following months saw an improvement and lasted until April. However, the following months brought declines in prices and margins. Margins fell to an unsatisfactory level, similar to what took place in 2023.”
It added that the performance of the construction industry is a significant factor influencing demand in its PU segment. “[This is] currently very poor,” the statement said.
The company said that it has observed increasing imports of polyether polyols from non-European markets to Europe for several quarters. “The dynamic increase in production capacities, in particular in China, significantly exceeding the needs of the market, translates into a significant surplus of capacity,” it said.
