Ludwigshafen, Germany -- BASF will present its novelties for composites, including various polyurethane specialities, at the Paris "JEC Composites Show" 13-15 April 2010, in hall 1, stand G 17.
The JEC trade show is one of the world's major exhibitions for this type of speciality materials, said BASF, listing among the products it will highlight:
• Elastopave -- a PU system developed specifically for pavement applications that is resistant to pressure, allows air and water through, and can be applied extremely fast. This new paving material offers an alternative surface solution for public squares, schoolyards, sidewalks, bicycle tracks and roads;
• Stadium construction -- a new field of use for BASF's Sandwich Plate System (SPS) consisting of a PU elastomer between two steel plates. SPS use for stands can reduce weight by 75 percent compared to concrete stands and also offers excellent load capacity and shorter construction times;
• Oldopur Blade Finish HS is a new topcoat for rotor blades now available from BASF subsidiary Relius Coatings. It features "excellent resistance to erosion and weathering," said BASF. Since the coating dries very fast, it gives short process times. Relius also offers this product in two-component spray cans for repair jobs. A pore-free surface -- essential in coating rotor blades -- can be achieved with the newly developed Relius ProcessCoat. Applied to the laminating mould as an in-mould gelcoat, it will significantly reduce the need for manual finishing.
