Sao Paulo, Brazil-Purcom Química Ltda has taken control of Arch Química do Brasil's polyurethane systems division, in a deal which it says makes it five times as big as the second-ranked local systems house.
Purcom said the agreement covers Arch's pressurised and conventional systems, as well as its Autopack and Autofroth tradenames plus the technologies related to their production and application.
Purcom is keen to reassure the market that existing commercial agreements will continue, with the same quality policy that Arch Química has developed over the last 30 years, the firm said in its announcement.
In future, Arch Química will focus on the special polyols supply sector, Purcom added.
For Purcom, the acquisition represents an increase of its range of services and products in polyurethane systems. The company said it has immediately begun to offer "ecological pressurized polyurethanes, developed with Ecomate, a totally ecological expander, and guns without solvent, from its North American partner, Foam Supplies."
Brazilian company Purcom was set up in 2002, and "rapidly became the market leader in the independent polyurethane (PU) systems houses market," in the country, a statement from the Sao Paulo-based company said. "
