Ontario, Canada - A new photovoltaic (PV) system which uses a urethane reflective membrane coating will be unveiled at a media event on 15 Dec 2009 at DuRock Alfacing International Ltd.'s headquarters in Woddbridge, Ontario.
The PV system, project-managed by Avacos - a Canadian PV installation company, features DuRock's Tio-Coat - a high-strength white elastomeric urethane roof coating "that provides 89 percent solar radiation protection reflectivity and weather resistance, reducing the energy usage required for the building compared to traditional roof coverings," a 3 Dec joint statement said.
The system will use Sanyo's HIT (Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin-Layer) double bifacial PV modules, generating power from both sides - providing up to 30 percent higher energy output than standard single-sided modules - while the Tio-Coat membrane will reduce cooling costs of the building, the statement added.
