Grafenberg, Germany - Rampf Giessharze is expanding its range of electro-casting resins with soft casting materials based on polyurethane. These can be used in a wide range of automotive applications such as sensors or circuit boards, the company said.
Rampf said in a 9 Sept press statement that it will present these new materials at the forthcoming German trade fairs Bond Expo in Stuttgart, FAKUMA in Friedrichshafen and IZB in Frankfurt.
All the new resins also have good adhesion to almost all materials usedin electronics, said Rampf, adding that encapsulation of modules orsensors for automotive uses with this new soft range is "essential forthe reliable performance of these components."
Electro-casting resins are used to insulate and protect electronic components from humidity, water, dust and foreign particles as well as from chemical and mechanical loads, said Rampf. They also optimise insulation values and help to dissipate heat from the components. The company said its RAKU-PUR brand electro-casting materials offer reliable protection.
The new soft materials -- called RAKU-PUR 21-1001, 21 -1350, 21-2136, 21-1250, 21-2050 -- display high elasticity and strength, producing excellent temperature cycling behaviour within the range of -50°C to +130°C as well as resistance to vibration. Rampf said this ensures no crazing, even in thick layered applications.
