Grafenberg, Germany – Rampf has developed a range of high-performance polyurethane casting systems for the rail industry. The two new two-component systems have EN 45545‑2 certification for fire safety in rail applications.
Raku PUR 21‑2350 and PUR 21‑2452‑2 were specifically designed for train and rail vehicle applications. They are said to give maximum fire protection, along with good conductivity and viscosity, and easy processability. As they contain non-abrasive fillers, they can be processed using standard mixing and dispensing equipment.
The Raku PUR 21‑2350 grade is particularly suitable for casting circuit boards and transformers, Rampf said. Its low exothermicity give low shrinkage and low stress curing. It has good thermal shock resistance, and both low water absorption and good hydrolysis resistance. It contains no halogenated flame retardants.
The second system, Raku PUR‑2452‑2, is appropriate for applications with high operating temperatures. It also offers low water absorption, good hydrolysis resistance and contains no halogenated FRs.
