Grafenberg, Germany -- Rampf Giessharze has developed a fast-curing soft integral foam, called Raku-PUR Speed, for adhesion to all kinds of materials in assembly processes in complex production lines.
Rampf, which offers both polyurethane and epoxy systems, said using the foam is "as easy as making popcorn - simply apply and wait for it to expand." Rampf noted that once the foam has been applied, the component is suitable for immediate further processing without the need to invest in curing equipment.
Rampf added that a short conveyor distance of two to three metres is sufficient to apply the PU foam gasket and ensure the component is ready for use. Tack-free components are ready for packaging in less than 150 seconds.
The Grafenberg, Germany-based company said that the material also has low water absorption and high mechanical strength for adhesion to various materials, from polypropylene to painted steel, in assembly operations. Raku-PUR 32-3250-36 offers long-term temperature resistance in a range from -30°C to +90°C and can be exposed to temperatures ranging from -40°C to +140°C for short periods, Rampf said in a 30 July news release.
