Colwyn Bay, UK – A new railing with a biobased PU coating from Norfolk-based IFS Chemicals has been installed along Colwyn Bay seafront.
The North Wales-based coastline will feature 2,000 metres of the PU-covered railing when the project – which is currently at mid-point - is completed.
A new grade of rapeseed oil-based polyol was used in the project to replace railing as part of a regeneration programme for the area. The second phase will see the post and rail system installed up to the town’s new pier.
The 2-K PU - of which 25 tonnes was used - was designed for high impact resistance, said Barrie Colvin, md at IFS Chemicals.
