London — Recaro Aircraft Seating has won an order for 9000 units of its SL 3510 model seats for British Airways and Iberia's Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2018.
In addition, Ricardo said, existing Iberia A320ceo aircraft will be retrofitted with SL 3510 seats.
Alex Cruz, chairman and ceo of British Airways said "we need world class aircraft seats that are utterly reliable and robust, yet also light and easy maintain for our busy short-haul flights within Europe."
The Ricaro seats weigh in at 9 kg each and by installing the seats "it will make the aircraft considerably lighter and help save fuel and cut CO2 emissions,” the company added.
Ricaro adds that the seats are designed to meet the airline's requirements and improve the seating comfort of passengers. Additionally, the seat covering also adapts to the passenger spine enhancing comfort. The thinner backrest gives increased legroom and enhanced living space, the company said.
