Bad Durkeim, Germany — A record number of people gathered ihere to attend the FSK's 2016 annual conference. Speaking at the opening, chairman Albrecht Manderscheid of Cannon said: "We have 173 attendees to day and I think this is a record."
The conference showcases innovations across the whole of the foam sector from polyurethane through to thermoplastics and other thermoset foams, as well as developments in processes and technology.
There was a strong polyurethane focus on the first day with papers from BASF outlining its particle foam technology and the development and properties of its Slentite polyurethane aerogel insulation products. Speakers from Wakol detailing some of the key factors in choosing the right type of adhesives for applications such as mattresses, and Fecken-Kirfel outlining its process automation and improvement products for industry 4.0.
Late in the afternoon, the FSK awards for innovation were presented.
FSK is the Fachverand Schaumstoffe und Polyurethane, it represents foamed polymer makers across the spectrum of materials. The meeting was held on 23 and 24 November 2016 concluding at BASF in nearby Ludwigshafen, Germany.
