Wetteren, Belgium — Following a two-day strike at Recticel’s plant in Wetteren in northern Belgium, the company’s management and trade union representatives have agreed on wage increases for the factory’s employees.
Under the agreement, the PU specialist will raise the salaries of manual workers by EUR 0.35/hour, while the wages of office employees will be increased by EUR 62/month, according to information obtained by local daily Het Laatste Nieuws.
Recticel employs 580 at the plant in Wetteren. Of these, about 240 employees took part in the vote on the proposed terms. The proposal was approved by a majority of 83%.
The manufacturer is currently evaluating the strike’s impact on deliveries to its customers, but it is estimated that overtime work will not be required to make up for the two-day production halt.
