Brussels, Belgium – A new range of polyurethane insulation boards from Recticel include a quarter of bio-circular raw materials. They are now available in Belgium and the Netherlands, and will be launched in further European countries in the future.
The company said the new Impact boards reduce CO2 emissions by 43% on average compared to standard boards. Technical insulation performance is equivalent.
The reduction in carbon footprint was achieved by replacing a proportion of the fossil-based MDI with raw materials from biomass waste such as used cooking oil. The bio-circular content was calculated according to mass balance principles, meeting ISCC traceability standards.
The first products in the range, Eurowall Impact and Eurothane Silver Impact, both have a multi-layer facer made from wood fibre. This was sourced from sustainably managed forests.
Recticel is aiming to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. It said these boards are an important element of its approach to achieve this.
