Brussels -- Recticel reached an agreement on 10 Dec with workers' representatives at its Wetteren, Belgium, site on a social plan for 110 redundancies at the site.
Belgian-based polyurethane group Recticel said earlier that it needed to close an automotive interiors unit at the site making parts for Mercedes, since the car maker wanted all its components from Recticel made at one site, in Germany.
Another factor in the staff cuts is general reduced demand for the foam products made at the site, Recticel noted.
The plan covers with 80 blue-collar and 30 white-collar workers, said Recticel, in a 16 Dec announcement. At present, 653 people work at the Wetteren site.
