Recticel recycles mattresses into rigid boards in Belgium

From flexible mattresses to rigid insulating boards by chemistry
The line is part of an investment of around EUR 10m at the site. It will allow the manufacturer to produce PU insulation boards from recycled mattresses. Recticel will collect used mattresses as it already does in France.
According to Belgian business daily De Tijd, the group’s facilities produce insulation from recycled materials in France.
Jean-Pierre De Kesel is the chief sustainable innovations officer at the company. He said the Belgian plant aims to produce its first recycled insulation boards in 2019 or 2020.
As part of the EUR10 m investment, the manufacturer has also opened new research labs on the site. These have space for about 100 researchers, according to De Tijd.
