By Liz White, UT staffResearch Triangle Park, North Carolina-Reichhold Inc. and Ennis Paint, Inc. have formed a joint venture, Innovative Performance Systems llc (IPS), for their epoxy, modified-urethane and polyurea based roadway marking businesses. IPS, formerly a Reichhold subsidiary, will now be owned 50:50 by Reichhold and Ennis Paint, said a Reichhold statement. Reichhold said the IPS unit has had a close commercial relationship with Ennis Paint: in 2002, Ennis began toll-manufacturing for Reichhold, and in 2003, began acting as a sales representative for the resins, inks and coatings group.Reichhold claims IPS offers, "a total solution approach for high-performance, durable roadway markings, including technologically advanced pavement marking materials and on-site technical support." The business will be located at Reichhold's Research Triangle Park headquarters."IPS will capitalise on the domestic and global technological and market strengths of both Reichhold and Ennis Paint," added Tom McSwain, president of IPS, in Reichhold's statement. McSwain said that the JV will offer the traffic safety industry a better deal, through a wider product offering and an increase in customer and technical services. "
