Woodridge, Illinois -- The science behind a new semi-crystalline class of polyurethanes based on polyester polyol building blocks from a plant-based source will be unveiled at UTECH Europe 2015 next week.
Elevance Renewable Sciences Inc say the thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPUs) meet the demand for renewable materials that need to survive in aggressive, high-temperature and high-humidity environments.
Research scientist Allyson Beuhler will present a paper on the innovation.
According to the company, the findings are important in designing new, lighter weight products with the mechanical and high-temperature properties of polyester-based TPUs in combination with the alkaline resistance of polyether-based TPUs.
The presentation is part of UTECH Europe’s Material Innovation session, which will be held in the Florin Room on Tuesday 14 April, 2015. Beuhler’s presentation starts at 3.15pm.
