Lonate Ceppino, Italy -- Repi SpA, the Italian manufacturer of colour dispersions and additives, has reinforced its cooperation with Novara Profile Extrusion Ltd, based near Johannesburg, for serving the market in South Africa.
Following what Repi describes as their "successful partnership" for distributing liquid colours for thermoplastics, Novara Profile will also offer Repi's range of products for polyurethanes. Lorita Diem, of Novara Profile, will be the contact person for the South African PU customers.
In Europe, Repi notes, it is, "strengthening its sales activities in spite of the worldwide economic slowdown." It has appointed a new experienced sales manager, Andrea Klammt, to intensify sales activities in the region. Klammt has previously worked as sales manager for Repi competitor iSL-Chemie. At Repi, she will be responsible for sales in some European countries and for selected key accounts.
This addition to the sales team "is only one of the activities that will strengthen our position within the polyurethane market," said Michael Rath, general manager for the PU business of Repi, in a 20 April company statement.
Investments in R&D at the Italian company aim to ensure further growth of the business. For example, Repi is offering its slabstock customers new highly concentrated black dispersions and also improving bonding strength after flame lamination. This new line is suitable for universal use in ether and ester foams, the company said.
Another new line of pigment dispersions based on phthalate-free carriers and vegetable oils, created by the R&D department, is now part of the standard portfolio and these new product lines are contributing to Repi's sales growth, the company said.
