Lonate Ceppino, Italy -- REPI SpA, an Italian manufacturer of colour dispersions and additives, is "very satisfied" with its 2009 business growth, despite a strong decrease in polyurethane consumption due to the global economic crisis, a 16 Feb company statement said.
REPI said its core pigment pastes for PU business could increase even profit, compared to 2008, because of the company's investments in production efficiency. The Italian company feels it is able to find new customers, noting that although the European PU market decreased by 25 percent in Western Europe, on average, REPI customers increased by 15 percent in this region.
"We consider this as the result of our efforts to offer our customers, in time of crisis, both quick, efficient service and excellent products," said Michael Rath, managing director of REPI's Polyurethanes Division.
REPI expects a double-digit increase of turnover for the current year, the statement said. (RD)
