Shawbury, UK -- iSmithers Rapra Publishing has launched its latest and final review report, Polymers in Aerospace Applications.
This updates the previous report on the topic from 1990, to provide a contemporary review of this sector and include new materials and technologies, particularly nanocomposites, said a 16 March announcement from iSmithers/Rapra.
The principle outlet for polymers in aerospace applications is as amatrix material and/or as reinforcing resins and fibres for composites, said the US/UK research and publications group. For each type of composite, the report covers chemistry, cure methods, fabrication, mechanical and thermal properties and environmental degradation.
Applications cover sealants, structural adhesives, foams, primer paint, shape memory alloys, electroactive devices, MEMS (microelectromechanical systems), vibration damping, NLO (non-linear optical) properties and ablative polymers.
The review is accompanied by around 400 relevant literature abstracts.
