Tianjin, China -- Repsol has licensed Tianjin Bohua Chemical Development the technology to build a 200kT/year propylene oxide (PO) and 450kT/year styrene monomer (SM) plant.
The agreement follows the 2013 licensing of Madrid, Spain-based Repsol's technology for flexible and polymer polyols in the Jilin province, the firm said.
PO and of SM provide raw materials for products including polyols. They are used in car parts-housing, insulation and footwear.
Repsol built its first PO/SM plant in Puertollano, Spain, in the 1970s.
In 2000, Repsol built a new PO/SM plant in Tarragona, double the size of the original facility.
