San Diego, California - Rhino Linings Corp. has released SolarMax 11-70, a pure polyurea aliphatic coating that is UV and colour stable, and highly resistant to humidity and substrate moisture during application.
Rhino says the product is a 100% solids, system that can be spray applied under high pressure. It is designed for industrial and consumer applications where colour and gloss retention are critical.
The polyurea/polyaspartic chemistry behind SolarMax 11-70 allows the coating to be sprayed in hot and dry climates as well as high humidity climates without foaming or blistering. Thanks to its dense chemistry, it resists the effects of wind-driven rain, salts and most chemicals.
Rhino says that Solar Max 11-70 combines the durability of a tough elastomer with the colour and gloss stability of a UV top coat into one product without the need for touch ups. Used on a properly prepared substrate, SolarMax 11-70 will protect steel, concrete, geotextile, foam, wood or aged polyester fiberglass (FRP). In these applications, the coating can be used as a single coat application or as a thin mil top coat for aromatic urethanes and polyureas.
The product is applied in a single coat, multi-pass application and cures to the touch within 30 seconds. The cured film provides excellent resistance to mechanical impact, abrasion and long-term corrosion. Its physical properties include 70 shore D hardness, 20% elongation and 3400 psi tensile strength.
