Wilton, Connecticut - Jonathan Rich has been appointed president and ceo of Momentive Performance Materials Holdings Inc., following the resignation of former president and ceo Wayne Hewett on 8 June.
Rich is the former president of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.'s North American Tire Business.
Momentive's statement said Rich developed a strong track record of business growth and optimisation during his seven years at Goodyear, Rich also spent 18 years with GE, working in the GE Silicones business, a predecessor of Momentive, from 1996 - 2000
"I believe that my executive experiences at Goodyear, combined with my intimate knowledge of Momentive's strengths and opportunities from my time at GE Silicones, make me an ideal candidate to lead the business towards further growth," said Rich in the announcement.
Momentive Performance Materials includes a urethane additive business, made up of silicone surfactants, tertiary amine catalysts and non-silicone process additives. This business is based on the former OSi Specialities unit, which GE bought from Crompton Corp. (now Chemtura).
