Singapore - At the UTECH Asia/PU China 2011 event being held 6-8 Sept in Shanghai, polyurethane equipment supplier Rim Polymers Industries Pte Ltd will show its new 5-component mixing system that allows users to mix up to four different types of environmentally friendly blowing agents in different combinations with raw polyol.
The Singapore-headquartered company said this invention, on which a patent is pending, will, "allow users to formulate their own blended polyol that will give them better insulation performance and yet yield the most economical total operation cost."
The system builds on the success of Rim Polymers' 2-, 3- and 4-component mixing systems, which the company claims have produced a good response from the refrigerator and freezer industries. "They use our PX mixing systems to mix raw polyol with various types of blowing agents (cyclopentane, HFC 245fa, 365, 134a) with different formulations," said a Rim Polymers statement.
At Booth 850 at the UTECH Asia/PU China event in the Shanghai New International Exhibition Centre, Rim Polymers will be highlighting commercially available special spray equipment for producing PU skin, where the company claims to be the first successful Asian developer.
This process is becoming popular in making instrument panels (IPs) and other interior parts. The HAG6S model "can work seamlessly with a robot to produce thin layer (min. 08mm) of PU skin in an open mould," says the company.
With the same mould, the customer can add PU foam to the skin with a GMA high-pressure machine, to produce a finished product which combines the skin and foam in one piece. This process can be used to produce IPs, auto interior parts, motorcycle seat etc.
Other recent successes include automotive uses such as carpet underlay foaming plant, auto glass PU encapsulation plant. Rim Polymers will also focus on production of energy saving insulation panels using complete foaming plants, on cyclopentane conversion for solar & electric water-heater appliances, and on a polyol blending hub for environmentally friendly blowing agents.
UTECH Asia/PU China 2011 now has over 70 international exhibitors from the polyurethanes supply sector and 100 suppliers from China's rapidly expanding local producers. Organiser Crain Communications Ltd anticipates even higher attendance than the 8400 who came to the previous event, PU China 2010, held in Shenzhen in May 2010.
