Rogers, Connecticut - Speciality foam materials producer Rogers Corp., with its Japanese venture partner INOAC Corp., has issued a brochure on its Poron Urethanes, which are used in hand-held devices such as phones, computers, digital cameras and gaming devices.
Microcellular Poron Urethanes are used in gaskets and seals to protect sensitive components in hand-held devices --acting as a gap filler and providing shock absorption, dust sealing and vibration isolation -- a recent Rogers statement said.
The brochure lists specific Poron materials and their key properties, gives advice on the best Poron material to use in a specific device and/or application, and also illustrates where Poron materials are typically used in hand-held devices.
Poron materials are offered in flame retardant, load bearing and, more recently, thin and soft grades. Poron ThinStik Soft Seal was introduced in early December as an impact-sealing urethane gasketing foam with a built-in adhesive layer for enhanced sealing, cushioning and impact resistance, a 7 Dec statement said.
Rogers' brochure also features technical data comparing the compression set resistance of its urethanes with that of competitive materials such as polypropylene, neoprene and EPDM, the statement added. (RD)
