Rogers, Connecticut - Rogers Corp. has reported sales of $33.8 million in its High Performance Foams business, which includes urethane and silicone foams, in the third quarter of 2009 (Q3) - on a par with sales of $33.9 million in the same period last year.
Urethane foam sales were strong in the portable communications and consumer electronics markets, Rogers said in a 2 Nov statement.
The company recorded revenues of $81 million in the Q3, compared to $93.6 million in the same period last year. "All year we have been working to position ourselves to take advantage of the eventual economic recovery," said Robert Wachob, president and ceo of Rogers. "While we did reduce costs earlier this year we also expended considerable effort in improving our productivity and that contributed to significantly to our performance in the third quarter," he added.
China's celebrations for National Day Golden Week at the beginning of October have affected sales; "I believe $3 to $4 million of September sales would have normally occurred during the October holiday week," Wachob said. "With that in mind I expect fourth quarter sales of $73 to $77 million," the Rogers ceo concluded. (RD)
