Morges, Switzerland - Rohm and Haas Packaging and Building Materials is to raise prices for all products sold to the adhesives and sealants industry in Europe, including central and eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, the Middle East and Africa.
This includes all polyurethane, acrylic, vinyl acrylic, vinyl acetate emulsions, polyester, polyvinylidene chloride and complementary technologies sold to make pressure-sensitive, construction, flexible packaging, transportation, and industrial adhesives.
The increase ranges from 4 to 6 percent and will take effect on 1 Dec 2007, or as contracts allow, said a 7 Nov statement from the Morges-headquartered business.
"We remain committed to our customers, to consistently provide the highest quality, innovative products they expect from Rohm and Haas," said Jonathan Hastings, vice president and general manager for Packaging and Building Materials in Europe, in the statement.
Hastings went on to point out that these increases are "necessitated by persistently high costs of raw materials, energy and freight," and added that Rohm and Haas will continue to work to absorb these costs internally, and so "reduce the impact of these increases on our customers.
"However, the sheer magnitude of the costs requires that we pass a reasonable share along to our customers at this time," he stressed.
