Geleen, the Netherlands – Roquette will take full control of the Reverdia joint venture with DSM from 1 April.
Roquette will run the Biosuccinium plant in Cassano Spinola, 55 km north of Genoa. It will operate under a non-exclusive licence. Roquette will still sell, market and handle customer service for the product.
Neither Roquette nor DSM would confirm the financial details of the transaction, future license fees or restrictions.
In addition, DSM will retain the exclusive rights to license the technology to strategic customers and third parties. A range of large volume markets could be home to biosuccinic acid, according to DSM. The Dutch company is now concentrating on licensing the technology in other areas.
