South Bend, Indiana - Royal Adhesives and Sealants llc, a manufacturer of industrial adhesives and sealants, has launched a new line of Silaprene-brand low-VOC (volatile organic compound) materials. These are urethane-containing adhesives and cements for the transport, furniture, recreational vehicles and marine industries.
Silaprene contact adhesives contain less than 250 g/litre of VOCs compared to over 600 g/l of VOCs in traditional solvent-based contact adhesives, the company said 3 Aug.
Royal ceo Ted Clark said that the new line of Silaprene can be tailored to the application requirements of customers without requiring large minimum orders, "which allows us to work with customers on all sizes of potential applications," he said.
The adhesives, which are compliant with EPA (the US Environmental Protection Agency) limits, use base polymer chemistry which includes neoprene, EPDM, nitrile, urethane, Kraton styrenic thermoplastic elastomers, and custom polymers, the company said on its website.
Royal offers a range of thermosetting epoxy and urethane, solvent-based, and water-based technologies. (RD)
