Paris, France & Dücze, Türkiye – Two more companies active in the polyurethane industry have been recognised by Ecovadis for their sustainability activities. Distributor Safic-Alcan has been awarded a gold medal, and foamer Kimpur has gained silver.
Safic-Alcan’s gold rating places it in the top 5% of companies assessed for their sustainability, and also environmental, social and governance performance. Its score improved by 11 points from its first assessment in 2023, it said.
“This achievement reflects our team’s dedication to embedding sustainability across all our operations,” said CEO Yann Lissillour. “We recognise that responsible business practices are crucial not only for the environment but also for our long-term success.”
Kimpur’s silver status, meanwhile, ranks it among the top 13% of companies in its sector. The company said it has reduced its carbon footprint, using renewable and recycled resources, and implemented energy efficiency projects. As part of its short, medium and long-term sustainability goals, it aims to reduce its carbon emissions by a third by 2030. It said it has maintained a stable carbon footprint per unit of production, despite increasing production by 28% with the commissioning of its Düzce facility in 2023.
“Sustainability is one of our strategic priorities,” said Derya Esnaf, the company’s marketing and sustainability director. “This achievement highlights Kimpur’s commitment to sustainability. We are immensely proud to have this success recognised by an international organisation. We will continue to place sustainability at the core of our business to create a more liveable world for future generations.”
