By David Reed, UT EditorExton, Pennsylvania-Sartomer Japan, Inc. has new premises in Tokyo for its operations providing technical and sales support for the firm's entire line of speciality chemicals, which includes hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene materials used in making polyurethane elastomers,The Japanese unit was formed in September 2004, when Sartomer acquired full ownership of Kayaku Sartomer Co. Ltd, its 12-year old Japanese joint venture with Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd, of Tokyo. Sartomer Japan is still led by general manager Masaru Fukuda, reporting to David Long, general manager of the newly created Sartomer Asia Division in Hong Kong, a 24 Jan. statement from Sartomer said.Sartomer is part of the chemicals branch of Total, a US-based manufacturer of specialty chemicals headquartered in Exton. It provides a variety of speciality chemicals including 620 monomers, oligomers, polybutadiene resins, photoinitiators, hydrocarbon resins, and styrene maleic anhydride resins. These are designed to enhance processing and performance characteristics of coatings, inks, elastomers, adhesives, sealants, composites, and other demanding products, the Sartomer statement added."
