Trinity, North Carolina - Bedding giant Sealy Corp. has acquired a non-controlling interest in Comfort Revolution, a developer of high-end sleep products.
Comfort Revolution of West Long Branch, New Jersey will continue to be led by founder and ceo Michael Fux, and his management team will continue to control the company's day-to-day operations, Sealy said in a 13 June news release.
"Comfort Revolution has a track record of success. Their skill in developing and taking to market breakthrough speciality foam and gel bedding products complements Sealy's portfolio of speciality mattress products," says Sealy ceo Larry Rogers.
Rogers added that the company's reputation in the industry, its supplier contacts and relationships with major customers have "set the company apart."
This latest move follows Sealy's announcement in autumn 2011 to create a separate division to focus on speciality mattress products, which includes polyurethane foam products. Sealy said it is taking a broader approach to the entire speciality products category and is willing to invest in new technologies and expertise to drive growth.
"Sealy's long term vision is to be a total sleep solution provider, which extends beyond our traditional mattress business, and our strategic partnership with Comfort Revolution is a very big step for us in that direction," said Rogers.
Sealy and Comfort Revolution will immediately begin selling portable/bed in a box foam mattresses under both brands and anticipate launching speciality foam pillows and toppers under the Sealy brands in early 2013, the company said.
