North Canton, Ohio -- A new "self-extinguishing" open-cell PU foam for attic insulation and cavity insulation from US-based foam insulation specialist E:zero has been granted European Technical Approval (ETA) and is now valid for use throughout Europe.
E:zero E500 gained full ETA validation by passing the SBI EN 13823 burn test at Warrington Fire, E:zero said 3 March. The open-cell foam has also passed the US E84 test and is REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals)-compliant, the statement added.
A benefit of open-cell foam, E:zone said, is that it allows timberwork and structural timber to breathe, and while it prevents draughts, will allow any condensation and water droplets to steadily evaporate through the foam.
"In reality what these tests mean to the customer is that this open cell foam is effectively self-extinguishing, thus providing the customer with added peace of mind when it comes to assessing fire risk," E:zone said. (RD)
