Shanghai – Shanghai Lianheng Isocyanate has competed expansion of its crude MDI capacity from 240 kT/year to 350 kT/year and expects it to be operational by the year end, according to the company.
The capacity increase has been achieved by upgrading technology and prolonging production time, the company told UTECH-polyurethane.com.
With CNY 9m ($1.3m) investment, the project also includes a new set of high-salinity wastewater pre-treatment equipment for MDA, expected to be in operation early next year.
The capacity for precursors nitrobenzene and aniline will remain at 240kT/year and 180kT/year respectively, said the project’s environmental impact report, and the extra feedstock demand will be met through market purchases.
With 150 current employees, Lianheng also has another project with 240kT/year MDI capacity under construction. That project started in June 2014.
