Toronto, Ontario - Energy services group ShawCor Ltd looks likely to get a contract worth more than $400 million, for pipecoating the gas export pipeline on the Ichthys Gas Field Development Project in Australia.
Mitsui & Co. Ltd has given ShawCor's Bredero Shaw unit a letter of intent for coating this gas export pipeline, conditional on a final investment decision by the Ichthys partners, Inpex Corp. and Total E&P.
The Ichthys pipeline will transport gas from an offshore processing facility through a subsea pipeline to the onshore LNG (liquid natural gas) facility, at Blaydin Point, Darwin, Northern Australia. About 900 km of 42-inch (106-cm) pipe will be protected with Asphalt Enamel coating, SureFlo internal epoxy coating and HeviCote concrete-weight coating, with the coatings applied ar Bredero Shaw's facilities in Kabil, Indonesia and Kuantan, Malaysia.
ShawCor said the Kabil and Kuantan facilities are"technology-based, full-service coating plants … built specifically to process large, complex projects in the Asia Pacific region."
Bredero Shaw has also gained a second contract from Chevron Australia Pty Ltd for coating 300 km of 10" to 44" diameter pipe.
on the Wheatstone Project, in addition to a previously announcedcontract to supply coatings on the gas-supply trunkline, with the twocontracts worth more than $170 million.
These insulated flowlines will transport production from the gas fields, offshore North West Australia, to the Wheatstone platform. Thecontracts will be executed in Kabil, Kuantan, and at Orkanger, Norway, aspecialised coating plant established to provide high efficiencythermal insulation systems that meet the performance standards requiredfor onshore and offshore insulated pipelines.
