Noida, India – Sheela Foam has introduced a product range, originally developed for the Australian market, to its domestic market of India. The Noida, Utter Pradesh-based PU foam producer developed the Hygroflex product at its Australian unit.
Sheela considers Hygroflex the “next level in memory foam”, with reported properties including 27% faster heat dissipation, 67% better body conformance – at any room temperature – and 32% higher pressure relief. In India the product will be marketed under the familiar “Sleepwell” brand.
“Now Hygroflex has been used as Sleepwell brand in the domestic market. It has now been commercialised, and is now available to other companies in the home market,” said Vasant Singal, president, technical sales, Sheela Foam, at the recently concluded India Mattresstech Expo in Noida.
A clinical study conducted by RMT University Melbourne showed the effectiveness of Hygroflex as a pressure redistribution material, compared with traditional memory foams.
Sheela Foam also showcased Latex Plus Foam at the Expo. Introduced as part of its expanding product portfolio in the domestic market, Latex Plus Foam is a high-resilience PU foam with a random cell structure imitating natural latex. This allows it to have better heat and air management than closed cell foams.
Latex Plus has low hysteresis at 14.2% compared to natural latex with a high hysteresis at 21.5%. A low hysteresis loss equates to higher resilience in foam. Hysteresis loss is defined as the difference between loading energy – and the unloading energy – expressed as a percentage of the loading energy.
Both PU foam lines are now under production at the Sheela Foam’s Noida site.
