Moerdijk, Netherlands - Royal Dutch Shell has declared a force majeure on propylene deliveries from its cracker in Moerdijk, Netherlands, the company said recently.
The company said a number of technical issues are affecting the cracker, "in addition one of our suppliers of refinery grade propylene has declared force majeure on Shell," said Rainer Winzenried of Shell Global Media Relations.
Winzenried said the combination of these events is leaving the company short of propylene and other cracker products, forcing the company to declare force majeure on propylene and acetylene for August and September.
"We very much regret the impact on our customers and would like to reassure them that we are doing everything possible to resolve the situation. Our aim is to lift force majeure allocation as soon as is practically possible. (RD)
