Singapore – Shell has opened a 140 kT/year high purity ethylene oxide (HPEO) purification unit at its site on Jurong Island.
Shell expands high purity ethylene oxide (HPEO) in Singapore
Shell said it can deliver HPEO over the fence to nearby customers. It also uses HPEO in its own ethoxylation processes. The new plant is supplied by Shell’s existing ethylene oxide/mono ethylene glycol plant, which is integrated
with its ethylene cracker on Paulu Bukom.
This is the latest in a number of investments Shell has made on Jurong Island. In December 2014 it took control of the Ellba Eastern propylene oxide/styrene monomer (PO/SM) JV with BASF. The additional propylene oxide Shell gained is used to expand its polyol capacity on Jurong Island.
