Baar, Switzerland -- Sika AG's subsidiary Sika (Japan) Ltd has acquired the construction sealant business of Henkel Japan Ltd.
In a 2 March announcement, Baar, Switzerland-headquartered Sika said the acquired business includes the trademarks Bellace and Duribbon, which it said are well established in the Japanese construction market
The business has annual sales of Yen 1115 million ($12.3 million).
Sika said the deal will allow it to complement the Sikaflex range and strengthen its position in the Japanese construction sealant market. Relevant sales and technical employees have agreed to transfer to Sika (Japan) Ltd.
In the US, Lyndhurst, New Jersey-based Sika Corp. has bought the $ 6-7 million turnover automotive glass replacement business of ADCO Products Inc., in a transaction that closed 8 March 2010.
ADCO's business will be integrated into Sika's aftermarket business in the US and its industry division in Canada and Latin America, said a 3 March Sika statement.
As part of the transaction, Sika acquired the rights to the "Titan" brand name of auto glass adhesives. Also, four sales representatives from ADCO's AGR (Automotive Glass Replacement) division are to join Sika's existing 21 strong sales force -- currently the largest sales force in the US AGR Market, said Sika.
"
