Baar, Switzerland - Sika Corp, US subsidiary of Switzerland-based Sika AG, has acquired May National Associates, Inc., a leading North American manufacturer of silicone and polyurethane products for sealing and bonding applications.
No financial details were released, but Sika's stattment says that May National will operate as a subsidiary of Sika Corp and willbe managed under the existing May National management team.
May National based in Lakewood, New Jersey, has annual sales revenue of about $20 million and 60 employees. It was founded in 1984 and manufactures and markets a full range of silicone, polyurethane, hybrid, and acrylic sealants and adhesives, primarily in construction, industrial, and distribution markets.
The parent company has been active in the engineered silicones business in Europe since 2004, and the acquisition will allow it to build a strong silicone business in North America as well as to expand its global silicone technology and know-how to this important region, especially in the growing solar and façade markets in North America.
Sika's product range features high-quality concrete admixtures, specialty mortars, sealants and adhesives, damping and reinforcing materials, structural strengthening systems and industrial flooring as well as roofing and waterproofing systems. It has subsidiaries in more than 70 countries worldwide and about 12 500 employees with annual sales of CHF4.2 billion (about $4.4 billion).
