Baar, Switzerland-Sika celebrated the opening of its sixth production facility in China on 15 March. The Swiss group said this plant, based in Suzhou, will produce Sikaflex polyurethane adhesives as well as concrete admixtures (Sika ViscoCrete) and mortars in its 75 000 sq.m facility.
A newly set up warehouse will supply Sika products to the east coast of China, the group added. Suzhou, about 100 km west of Shanghai, is also home to a Sika technology centre and houses the headquarters of Sika China, the company said.
Sika pointed out that the operations in Suzhou are under Chinese management and will employ about 150 people - less than 10 of them being non-Chinese."
