Baar, Switzerland-Sika Group's Austrian unit, Sika Österreich GmbH, is to acquire all interests in Haberkorn Abdichtungssysteme GmbH. Addition of the Haberkorn business, based in Wolfurt, will "streamline the distribution structure of Sarnafil membranes in Austria," said Sika in a 11 July announcement that the deal.
According to Sika, Haberkorn Abdichtungssysteme GmbH, formerly part of Haberkorn Holding AG of Austria, is "an established and highly successful provider of Sarnafil membranes in the Austrian market." Sarnafil roofing membranes account for some CHF 27 million ($22 million) of Haberkorn Abdichtungssysteme GmbH's annual sales, said Baar-headquartered Sika.
Sika Group acquired Sarna Polymer Holding Inc., which manufactures Sarnafil membranes, at the end of 2005. This latest acquisition is part of its strategy to streamline distribution of Sarnafil membranes in Austria, Sika commented.
Haberkorn Holding no longer has any interests in the roofing membranes business. Sika will take over the distribution network as well as the employees, and retain the Wolfurt location.
The transaction needs the approval of the Austrian antitrust authorities, said Sika.
