Carbonera, Italy -- Italian waterproofing company Silcart is launching two new flexible faces for PIR/PU (polyisocyanurate and polyurethane) rigid insulation boards: Carboglass and Glass Coat.
Silcart says that Carboglass is expressly designed for ETICS (external thermal insulation composite systems), and Silcart claims it has "an extraordinary dimensional stability," thanks to its reinforcement of glass-fibre mesh that makes it highly resistant to impact. The chemical and alkali (caustic soda, ammonia, urea etc…) resistance along with its special high-relief structure, helps plasters to grip on to the surface.
The Carbonera, Treviso-based company says that, in E Class, Carboglass will be much appreciated by panel manufacturers for its improved tensioning during panel manufacture.
The other news facing, Glass Coat is "the perfect combination of lightness and resistance," Silcart claims. It is a glass-fibre carrier coated with a special polymeric compound that makes the product breathable (Sd 0.05 m) and waterproof (>2m water column) at the same time.
This prevents condensation at the site of fastening elements, that is, there where thermal bridges are usually created.
Glass Coat is also highly resistant, to UV (ultraviolet) light, thanks to its dark, dull colour, says the company. This means that, in E Class, Glass Coat is the ideal 'backstage' support for cladding and vented façades: if used together with Acryl Tape Coat, this guarantees the airtightness of the system.
Silcart's new Insulation Division will be exhibiting these products and others at Bau in Munich, Germany (17 - 22 Jan) - Booth 108, Halle A2, and will be presented at Klimahouse in Bolzano, Italy (27-30 Jan) - Booth 11/24 Sector AB.
