Ludwigshafen, Germany -- BASF SE has appointed Wayne Smith to its supervisory board, a move which will take effect at the group's annual meeting 27 April 2012. Smith heads BASF's Polyurethanes division, headquartered in Brussels.
BASF said Dr Stefan Marcinowski will retire as his contract expires, on the same date, after 15 years on the board.
The board has extended the appointment of research executive director Dr Andreas Kreimeyer until the end of the Annual Meeting in May 2015. He has been on the board since 2003.
Smith will take over responsibility for Inorganics, Petrochemicals, Intermediates and Process Research & Chemical Engineering.
Kreimeyer will take over responsibility for Crop Protection, Coatings, South America, Biological & Effect Systems Research, Plant Science and BASF Future Business.
