Ouarzazate, Morocco -- Solar Impulse, an aircraft powered completely by solar energy, has taken off from Rabat-Salé, Morocco, 13 June, and is due to arrive in Ouarzazate, Morocco less than 24 hours later.
The 64-metre wingspan plane, which has a cockpit made of rigid polyurethane foam, uses materials such as carbon nanotubes and PU foam, essential for lightweighting. It was was createdwith the help of companies such as Bayer MaterialScience and Solvay whoprovided materials and technical expertise.
