Valencia, California - Rapid prototyping and manufacturing company Solid concepts Inc. has confirmed the acquisition of Composite Tooling Technologies Inc. (CTTI) based in Troy, Michigan, to expand its cast urethane products, CNC (computer numerical control) products and the addition of fibreglass reinforced plastic (FRP) to its capacity, the company recently announced.
CTTI produces large prototype-pre-production urethane and FRP parts utilising large platform CNC machines and proprietary short run tooling capabilities. The company currently occupies an area of 18 000-sq.ft thanks to continued growth after twelve years of supplying the automotive and other industries, the company said.
"We have studied many acquisition candidates, and CTTI has proven to be a shining star representing a perfect fit to augment our capabilities," said Jeff Lemker, Solid Concepts' vice president of manufacturing.
Following the acquisition of the Michigan facility, Valencia-based Solid Concepts now operates five US production facilities as well as sales and engineering representation throughout the US and Canada.
