Charlotte, North Carolina - Solideal USA Inc. has added, from 15 May, a surcharge expected to start at 22 cents per pound for steel used on all wheels and assemblies.
The Charlotte-based company, which makes solid industrial tyres including polyurethane types, said it has adopted the surcharge, which will be evaluated monthly, to help "offset the hyper-inflation of worldwide steel prices."
Solideal ceo Cesar Clement said that "as commodity prices are increasing dramatically, we have no choice but to make this move."
The company is the US subsidiary of Luxembourg's Solideal International SA.
