Fuzhou, Fujian – Southeast Electrochemistry, one of China’s largest TDI makers, is planning a 150kT/year TDI project at its site at Jiangyin Industrial Complex in here.
The proposal is waiting for regulatory approval.
The expansion originally had 200kT/year planned capacity and the updated project will likely begin construction in 2019, the company told UTECH-polyurethane.com. The site already has 100kT/year TDI facility which has been in operation for three years.
CNCEC affiliate Sedin Engineering is designing the project. Investment is likely to total CNY3.8bn ($545m). It will take 36 months to complete, and create 240 jobs when in operation, said its environmental impact report.
The project also includes a 300kT/year ionic film caustic soda facility. This is in addition to the site’s existing 120kT/year capacity. Southeast Electrochemistry aims to build the site into China’s largest for TDI and related materials.
Caustic soda produced here will also supply Fujian Connell Polyurethane's recently announced 400kT/year MDI plant by a pipeline. Southeast Electrochemistry is owned by FJ Pec, which has a stake in Fujian Connell Polyurethane. At the same time as this project is underway, FJ Pec is expected to supply engineering services for that project too.
