By Liz White, UT staffChicago, Illinois-The Female Health Co. is to supply South Africa and Botswana with over 3 million of its Female Condoms to use in the region's HIV/AIDS prevention programmes. Chicago-based Female Health will also assist in a programme to improve training in use of the womens' polyurethane condom, in South Africa's government clinics.South Africa has the highest number of people-an estimated 5.3 million-living with HIV/AIDS, according to the UN Joint Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS), said a Female Health statement. Some 2.9 million of these are women, and UNAIDS estimates that 21 percent of South Africans aged 15-49 have HIV. In Botswana, the adult HIV infection rate is 38.8 percent, according to the World Health Organisation."
