Madison, Wisconsin -- WFI Global LLC developed the first polyurethane window foam made with renewable agricultural materials, the company claims.
The soybean oil-based product called UCore+ is a low density insulating foam injected into vinyl and fiberglass window cavities to improve thermal performance by up to 8%, the company said.
UCore+ also is the only window foam certified by the US Department of Agriculture BioPreferred Program, WFI president Terry Walker said. The certification requirement calls for a biobased content of 7% - WFI Global exceeded that with a 19% bio-based content.
