Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- Bayer MaterialScience llc developed a Contractor Accreditation Programme for spray polyurethane foam (SPF), seeing this as an opportunity for consistent and universal standards for SPF application contractors.
The program consists of a bronze level basic accreditation, with additional tiers specific to the type of SPF application.
This programme was the subject of a paper authored by Bob Creighton, manager, contractor accreditation and warranty programmes, and coauthors Jim Lambach, head of technology and technical marketing, spray polyurethane insulation and roofing materials; and Martha Vandamme, manager, applicator information programme, all of Bayer MaterialScience LLC.
"Creation and Implementation of a Contractor Accreditation Program for Spray Polyurethane Foam," earned the authors a best-paper award in the "Worker Health and Safety" session at the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry's 2012 Polyurethane Technical Conference.
Bronze level accreditation is a Bayer requirement for any contractor who wishes to purchase the company's SPF systems. In their paper, the authors presented the rationale for the program, and took an in-depth look at the required steps to achieve accreditation.
